Herald Leader Pats Itself On The Back

Snippets from the Lexington Herald Leader ...

Good day for Blevins, Roberts, Fayette voters
The commanding victories of Don Blevins for county clerk and Larry Roberts for county attorney tell us a lot.

They tell us that voters are much smarter than some candidates and their advisers think.

In each of these races, the victor represented a "real thing" challenged by a candidate relying on a heady media campaign.

Cegelka attempted to tar Roberts, a former commonwealth's attorney, as a homophobe who is hostile to women, using out-of-context excerpts from a sex education program Roberts taped for Fayette County schools in 1982.

Future candidates take heed: A slick, slightly misleading media blitz may sell junk food, but it will not satisfy voters.

Only Democrats got to vote in the elections that the Herald Leader is referring to, and the Herald Leader had a coordinated campaign to smear both Cegelka and Angel. All this proves is the many Democrats get information spoon-fed from the Herald Leader. I'm sure Cegelka would have done much better in an election where Republicans had a say.

The excerpts from Roberts from 1982 were accurate. More recently -- this election season -- Roberts has tried to defend deadbeat dads from avoiding paying child support. Is that what Democrats and the Herald Leader stand for?
