Francis, Mattingly in 9th District
[...]
Wanda Mattingly, a communications official at Spencerian College, does not have such a concrete agenda, but seems passionate about being accessible and responsive to residents.

Incumbent Jay McChord came into office supported by developers and others opposed to local purchase of the water utility. His support has not broadened, based on recent campaign finance reports.
McChord, who describes his role as a "cheerleader" for the city, did not meet with the editorial board to discuss his next-term agenda.

Both Wanda Mattingly and Richard Francis want to see the government takeover the private water company. Not mentioned in the endorsement, surprising, huh?
The article failed to mention that in the November 2004 election, Jay McChord whipped Wanda Mattingly -- 56% to 44%! When the Herald Leader says "His support has not broadened," do they think that 56% is not fairly broad support? See this link. There's no reason to think the outcome will be different this timearound. You can learn more about Jay McChord at this link.
It does not appear that Wanda Mattingly has a running web site, but she is prominently features on the Change For Kentucky web site -- which, at the top of the page, quotes liberal politician Howard Dean.
